Parent Training & Family Support

At New View Autism, we believe meaningful progress happens when learning carries beyond the clinic and into everyday life. That’s why parent training is a core part of our services—because skills are most powerful when families can use them at home, in the community, and during real moments that matter.

Our parent training focuses on practical, developmentally appropriate strategies that fit naturally into your family’s routines. Rather than teaching skills that only work in a therapy room, we work alongside caregivers to build tools that feel realistic, respectful, and meaningful in daily life. This may include support with communication, navigating routines, responding to challenges, and building connection during everyday interactions.

By aligning what happens in sessions with what happens at home, children are better able to practice and carry skills across settings. Parent training helps create consistency, reduces frustration, and allows learning to feel supportive rather than overwhelming. Families become confident partners in their child’s growth—supported, informed, and empowered.

For this reason, parent training is a required component of both part-time and full-time clinic-based ABA services at New View. We believe it would not be helpful—or fair—to teach skills that only work in the clinic or that families cannot meaningfully use outside of sessions.

We also offer parent coaching as a standalone service for families who are:

  • Waiting to begin full ABA services
    Not currently seeking intensive therapy

  • Looking for guidance and support around behavior at home

Parent training and coaching may be covered by your insurance provider. If not, we’re happy to discuss private-pay options so families in the Urbandale and Des Moines metro area can access the support they need.
