Parent Training & Family Support
Practical coaching that helps families feel confident—not overwhelmed.
At New View, we believe parents know their children best. Our role is to partner with you by sharing practical strategies that fit naturally into your family’s everyday life.
Our goal isn’t to turn parents into therapists. It’s to help parents feel confident supporting their children during everyday moments.
A little guidance can make everyday routines feel more manageable, meaningful, and connected.
What is Parent Training?
Parent training is an opportunity to work one-on-one with your child’s BCBA to better understand your child’s strengths, challenges, and goals while learning strategies you can confidently use at home and in the community.
Rather than expecting families to recreate therapy sessions, we focus on helping you navigate the real moments that happen every day—mealtimes, bedtime routines, transitions, communication, sibling interactions, community outings, and everything in between.
Our goal isn’t to give you more to do. It’s to make everyday life feel a little easier.
What Can We Work On?
Every family’s needs are different. Parent training is individualized based on your child’s goals and your family’s priorities.
Common topics include:
Supporting communication throughout the day
Navigating routines and transitions
Responding to challenging behaviors
Encouraging independence
Understanding why behaviors happen
Building play and social interactions
Toilet training support
Community outings
Collaborating with schools and other providers
Partnering With Families
Parent training is an essential part of our clinic-based ABA program because we believe meaningful progress happens when children are supported across the environments where they live, play, and grow. Rather than teaching skills that only work in the clinic, we partner with families to help make those skills meaningful in everyday life.
For children receiving part-time or full-time ABA therapy at New View, parent training is a required component of services. These meetings provide an opportunity to review progress, problem-solve challenges, answer questions, and ensure strategies feel practical and sustainable at home.
We also offer parent coaching as a standalone service for families who may not need intensive ABA therapy but are looking for guidance and support. This can be a great option for families who are:
Waiting to begin ABA services
Looking for support with behaviors or routines at home
Seeking practical strategies to encourage communication, independence, or emotional regulation
Wanting professional guidance without ongoing direct therapy
Whether parent training is part of your child’s ABA program or a standalone service, our goal remains the same: to help families feel supported, confident, and equipped with strategies that fit naturally into everyday life.
Parenting doesn’t come with a manual, and every child is different.
Whether you’re receiving ABA therapy or simply looking for guidance, we’re here to partner with you and help your family feel more confident moving forward.
